Julian Jeffrey Gaston Chabot, better known as Jeff Chabot, was born on 12 February 1998 in Hanau, Germany, to a German father and a French mother. He grew up in Dieburg, a small town in Hesse near Darmstadt, where his passion for football began.
Chabot’s football journey started with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2010, before he moved to RB Leipzig in 2014, where he joined the reserve squad in 2016. In 2017, he took a significant step by joining Sparta Rotterdam, making his Eredivisie debut on 12 August 2017 against VVV-Venlo.
In 2018, Chabot signed with FC Groningen and made 29 competitive appearances during the 2018-19 season, contributing to an eighth-place finish in the Eredivisie. His impressive performances caught the attention of Serie A club Sampdoria, and on 24 May 2019, he signed a five-year contract for €3.7 million.
During the 2020-21 season, Chabot was loaned to Spezia, where he gained valuable experience in Serie A. In January 2022, he joined Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln on loan, and in May 2023, Köln made the move permanent. However, following the club’s relegation in May 2024, Chabot decided to move on.
On 25 May 2024, Chabot signed with fellow Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart until 2028. He made his debut in a pre-season friendly against FSV Hollenbach and later debuted in the UEFA Champions League against Real Madrid. Chabot’s robust physical presence and tough tackling have earned him the nickname “Türsteher” (doorman) from the German media.
Internationally, Chabot has represented Germany at various youth levels, including U17, U19, and U20, owing to his dual heritage. His journey from Dieburg to the Bundesliga highlights his dedication and skill, making him a significant player for VfB Stuttgart and a promising talent in German football.
